Robert Earl Henderson, age 77, of Beavercreek, OH, left this world to be with the Lord following complications from Dementia/Alzheimers at 5:55AM on Tuesday June 27, 2017.
Robert (Bob), was born to Earl and Flossie Henderson July 12, 1939, in Alton, IL.
After receiving his BS and MS in Mechanical Engineering, he had a long and distinguished career working in the Aerospace industry; 34 years in federal service at WPAFB in Dayton, OH, and another 14 in the private sector, finally retiring in 2009.
He received numerous awards throughout his career, including the S.D. Heron Award, and had many professional memberships/affiliations, including the NATO Advisory Group for Aerospace R&D (AGARD), the American Institute of Aeronautics & Astronautics (AIAA), and the NASA Aeronautics Advisory Committee.
Bob liked to travel, and visited many countries during his life. He was also very active in his church until diagnosed with dementia in 2013.
Bob was a loving husband, dedicated father, and friend to many. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Flossie Henderson, of Alton, IL.
He is survived by the love of his life, Patricia (Shinpaugh) Henderson, his sister, Anita (Henderson) Janay, his daughter, Lora (Henderson) Schwieterman, and his son, Christopher Henderson, along with their spouses (Edward Janay, Martin Schwieterman, and Jennifer (Warnock) Henderson), his 7 grandchildren (Bethany, Michael, Kirstyn, Katie, Jon, Thomas, and Anilee), and his 5 great-grandchildren (Holly, Henry, Olivia, Auri, and Emilia).
The family held a private, memorial service to honor his memory at Newcomer Funeral Home on Thursday, June 29, 2017, with Pastor Martin Schwieterman presiding.
