Elmer W. Gibson, 86, of Riverside, OH, passed away June 1, 2017 in Dayton, OH. Elmer was born in Dayton, Ohio on March 16, 1931 to Earl and Dorothy (Goines) Gibson. He married Rose E. Reynolds in Dayton, OH.
Elmer retired from the City of Dayton after 37 years, where he was an Equipment Operator with the street maintenance department. He loved to hunt and fish, working in the yard and tending to his flowers. He loved spending time with his family, who he loved dearly, and will be greatly missed by all.
He is survived by two daughters, Sharon R. (Bud) Combs and Vickie S. White, a son, Steve E. (Cindy) Gibson, six grandchildren, Melissa B. (James) Hoskins, Brad (Nancy) Combs, Regina White, Robert (Amanda) White, Jr., Kyle Gibson and Kody Gibson; great-grandchildren, Rebecca Hoskins, Tyler Hoskins, Sarah Hoskins, Benjamin Combs, Alexis White and Leonard Wright; two sisters, Vivian Jackson and Martha Bozarth. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Rose; four brothers, Russell, Jerry, Ray and Ernest Gibson; one sister, Elsie Womack; and a son in law, Robert White, Sr.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, June 9, 2017 at Newcomer Funeral Home - North Chapel 4104 Needmore Rd. Dayton, OH. Funeral Services will begin at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 10, 2017, with Pastor William Loudermilk officiating. Burial will follow at Dayton Memorial Park.
