Robert Lee Barnes, "Bob", age 69 of Dayton, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Miami Valley Hospital. He was born June 1, 1947 in Dayton, Ohio, the son of the late Robert and Mary Barnes.
Bob is survived by his son, Chad (Jennifer) Barnes; granddaughter, Claudia Marie Barnes; as well as numerous fellow veterans and friends.
In his younger years, Bob was an avid boat racer and helped his son with soapbox derby racing. Bob is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and served his country during the Vietnam War. He also remained active in American Legion Post 675 and VFW Post 2800.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at 1 pm. Visitation will be from 11 am until the time of service. Burial will be in Dayton National Cemetery at 2:30 pm with military honors.
