John F. Burkholder, age 78, of Beavercreek, formerly of Hanover, OH, passed away on 22 October 2016. He was born on 25 August 1938 to the late John and Margaret (Tucker) Burkholder in Frazeysburg, OH. He was a 1956 graduate of Hanover-Toboso High School. John retired as a Lt. Colonel from the Ohio Army National Guard. John will be forever missed by his loving wife, Ladonna K. Burkholder; children, Daniel Brooks Burkholder (Debbie), Andrew F. Burkholder (Shannon), and Alana L. Blythe (Sean); grandchildren, Austin (Shelby), Ty, Avy, Slayder, Dane, Reid, Jude, Josh, and Jake; siblings, Janet Friel (Barney), Linda Turner (Fred), Rick Burkholder (Sue), Vivian "Sue" Nichols, Les Burkholder (Kathy), Doug Burkholder (Beth); dear friends, Archie, Mike, and Chuck, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other family, and friends. He was preceded in death by the mother of his children, June "Ann" Burkholder and brothers-in-law, Paul Turner and Jay Nichols. A visitation will be held Friday, October 28, 2016, from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, Ohio 45432. Family will also receive friends on Saturday, October 29, 2016, from 12:00 - 1:00 pm at Smith Chapel United Methodist Church, 4895 Reform Rd. NE, Newark, OH 43055, where a funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm with Rev. Matt Fleck officiating. Burial will follow at Smith Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Newark, OH 43055. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to John's home church, First Baptist Church of Kettering, 3939 Swigart Rd., Beavercreek, OH 45440.
