Marjorie Ann Nichols, age 87, of Dayton, passed away August 8, 2016 in Troy, Ohio. She was born January 23, 1929 in Covington, Kentucky to Richard and Antoinette (Ante) Madden.
In 1947 Marjorie graduated from Holy Cross High School in Covington and went on to nursing school at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Dayton. She became an RN in 1950. While in Dayton, she met her future husband, John Linton Nichols, and married him October 5, 1949 in Loveland, Ohio. They were married for 58 years and had five children: Teri Watterson, Penny Gibbar (Richie), Kathy Zoller (Dale), John Nichols (Carla), and Becky Nichols.
Her favorite activities included nursing, dancing, swimming, playing cards, visiting with friends and family and church activities. She was a longtime member of Queen of Martyrs church.
In addition to her children and her sisters JoAnne Hutzel (John) and Angela Madden, she is survived by her 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and numerous other family and friends.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sisters Rosemary Barnes and Sister Antoinette Madden and her brother Richard Madden.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Noon at Newcomer Funeral Home,
4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton, OH 45424. Burial will follow at Dayton Memorial Park and reception at Queen of Martyrs' McAuley Hall. Marjorie's family will receive friends from 11:00 am until service time at the funeral home.
